ORDERS OF BUSINESS

LGBT HISTORY MONTH WITH SOCIAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

  • Campaigns team to commence first monday of term

  • the main idea is to have tie in events that are planned with intersectionality as part of the campaign

  • during last year’s history month people shared recent activists, therefore this year might be nice to look further back into history, also possibly at different cultures, different identities

  • the main thing that always comes up is stonewall riots, might be nice to have different countries as well about their lgbt history instead this year

  • Jonah and Freddy are also doing a politics panel which is more activist focused, thus it can cover the contemporary side to complement history month

WELFARE FORM

  • welfare has created a form about what people want to see for the next term, and they will look at that to see what they can do with welfare (they have had 6 responses to the form)

  • want to do welfare wed, Peter will talk to Amy and Erica about that

SIGHTLINE INTERVIEW

  • DST wants to do an interview with Jia Ying (purple radio)

  • happy to leave it to the purple radio, could ask if they want the association to read the responses

  • Amanda to give Erica, Peter, and Freddy’s contacts and mention we’re in contact with jia ying

YOU’RE NOT ALONE CAMPAIGN

  • had one response

  • done a sign up sheets will chose first tuesday of term

  • Campaigns team is involved, Jonah will talk to Freddy about accompanying socials or events for the campaign

  • Jonah to handle the campaign, want to get it done by february

  • to be pushed with the campaigns committee, Erica will remind them halfway through the week

  • no need to send email about it, to keep it to student leaders and reps

  • Allen to put in the post grad and mature students leaders group, but specify it is only for those who identify as lgbt+

  • sent to the identity reps

STUDENT SUPPORT REVIEW GROUP

  • jonah part of it term, review of all existing student support services in durham, colleges, student conduct, faith, student disability, etc

  • will talk indiv to campaigns and welfare when jonah has first meeting on the 15th to have more knowledge about it

SOCIALS

  • we’ve had a load of socials that was proposed on our annual which couldn’t happen because of covid, so instead freddy has made a new list of socials for this term

  • freddy has made a file with all the events which we hope to do the next month or so with all the group chats available so that we know when to do it and know when to post it

  • the feedback that has been given so far is that facebook groups are where it is ideal to post the socials, but we should also try and cross post on different stories on things like a alliance, bimo, etc

  • freddy and megan proposed to have a weekly update on the socials, with a poster of what is available in terms of socials of the current week and the next week

  • they will make graphics for each week as a summary of what is going on, this can be posted on instagram and facebook, and possibly we could pin the posts on facebook as well

  • to add drop in times as well, can add in identity rep social plans as well

  • allen raised concerns on whether freddy will have the time to run all the socials and freddy said they are okay to run most of the socials, but the socials as set to run themselves as well so it will not be too stressful for them

  • to have more events in the beginning of the term to work out what people are enjoying

  • also freddy proposed a dungeons and dragons group, freddy’s brother possibly to run

GUIDE FOR TRANS AND NON-BINARY PEOPLE

  • freddy was making a guide for the non-binary group

  • this is for people to send to professors / lecturers about being trans / non binary in durham

  • there are two guides; one made for staff, one for students

  • the guide for the teachers has been completed, but for the students guide it contains information like how to legally change one’s name, etc, and it has been more difficult to put together

  • jonah to give academic su officers and sam dale (who works for student and staff support) the guides

  • freddy needs more information on how to change one’s name and welfare for trans students, they are to contact the trans association

DOODLE POLL

  • 2nd week or so to have another meeting with college reps, they’re not all welfare trained to the level that they want, and it was suggested instead to try a group to do together

  • to speak to someone as to how to get it done

CHANGE IN MEETING TIMES

  • 2pm sundays instead as amanda is still in singapore and there is time difference
